Houses embedded in the earth are becoming a specialty of Gluck+, the New York architect-led design-build firm formerly known as Peter Gluck and Partners. The reasons are compelling–the grass roofs reduce energy loads and their low profile doesn’t impinge on the natural landscape.

Massage Therapy Pavilion, Canada

This amazing building, located in  in Quebec, Canada is a massage-therapy pavilion and part of a resort buildings. Blouin Tardif Architecture managed to integrate the contemporary structure into the mountain landscape through the use of natural materials, generously-sized glass windows and openings. 

Mountain cabin – cottage house is in Austria

This house called ‘Mountain Cabin’ is located  in the Austrian village, Laterns. At the entry level, which is accessible via a flight of steps, the structure narrows down to two supporting corner columns, which provides guests with the opportunity to look through the building and enjoying a panorama view of the surrounding landscape.

Modern mountain house in Austria

This wooden house is located in Alpine village, designed by Vienna collective Mostlikely. The designers wantes do create a building that would be suited to a modern family lifestyle, but that also wouldn’t look out of place amongst the traditional architecture of its locality in Kitzbühel, Austria.
